Not necessarily. I had the opportunity to chat to one of them while he waited on the ramp to for the call to pick up somebody.
As far as I remember he was civilian trained. But this was a couple of years ago and it might have changed.
Maybe thats why there are no minimum hours, you just don't get enough nowadays in the military... :roll:

I've carried Prince Harry and Princess Anne and flown top cover for Charlie and Di and baby Willy back in '83, does that qualify me? Only want the job if it is in a 76.

Also carried a few queens, but not The queen.
