If people care to offer updated details on a particular company, please do so via the 'post reply' function for this thread and over time, when I have a chance, I will start updating details.

Thanks to Mike for making a start with the update process.

Thanks to those that have made suggestions recently.
I have split the company directories into various groups, hopefully making it easier to see what is relevant to you.
Please keep the updated info coming, by replying to each thread, not via pm. That way, any Mod can update the list. Over to you...

Hi all,

I am new around here, I am not sure if I can post here, but I noticed these entries are quite old.

Can anyone let me know where i can find the best updated directory? and who is training on the Capri helicopters?

regards,

Gleuto

[Edit by Mod] Google is your friend. We haven't got that info sent to us yet. We only update when given the info. We don't go actively searching it.

Attitude in Archerfield. Looks fairly new. They advertised elsewhere and have G2 in the advert. Gonna try it out when I get to Europe.
Some pilot friends/instructors praise it. One said, too easy to fly. Other can hover it with cyclic in legs (not recommended by me, just a fact)

Well, anything that's relatively easy to do full down in and have good inertia and RRPM range to work with, is preferred for me flying the left (right in S300).

Well done for the operators that show a pay scale or range that is both open and transparent. Seems this has been an issue with a few newbies on this forum .For the others , maybe they can learn from this ….KN

Sky Safari Port Douglas FB page has 'ceasing operations' announcement - check with them and maybe update the list above. Just FYI

If these pay figures are accurate, all of the companies that have figures quoted, albeit not by the companies, are paying below the Air Pilots Award. Might give an indication as to their general attitude towards compliance with the law! If they're not concerned with getting on the wrong side of Fairwork Australia then compliance with things like Flight & Duty regs probably won't concern them either.

WG, that's a very loose statement.

I'd be just as concerned about the type of pilot who will let himself be pushed into exceeding flight and duty limits. Very easy to say "no". And if they can't, no one to blame but themselves.

But that's the problem though isn't it HIP, it's NOT easy for a new pilot with 105hrs and a $70,000 debt to turn around to an employer and say they won't do a 15min flight on their 7th day. They know if their employer is asking them to do it, the employer is wanting them to say yes. So they carry out the request, nothing happens and the cycle continues. People rarely, if ever, get caught doing it. There have been a couple of court cases over the last few years though where employers were taken to court by former employees who weren't paid and treated in accordance with the Award, got very costly for the employers.

It's probably easier to say no to an FDT request though as you've obviously already got the job. As ridiculous as it sounds, querying the salary at an interview for a GA position would probably not be a good idea!

Does anyone know how much helicopter Pilots make in Australia, just starting out and then again how much they make in the big jobs? (Careflight, Off Shore) Is it as much as some airliners make or not?

Cheers

I'm sure a vast majority of pilots would love to know where an inexperienced pilot starts on $80,000...unless of course I've missed a tongue in cheek remark.
