Bell UH-1Y Super Huey... in miniature
Hi Thought I would share some pics of my little baby
Interesting story, I originally built this aircraft 5 years ago and had the mechanics ready to fly, at that point I was robbed and everything stolen apart from the fibreglass body. 2 Years ago I started this project again except with a little different build concept, this time it would still be a semi scale build except the aircraft would retain full 3D capability
To this end it was very difficult and took many many different geometry components to firstly get the desired result and secondly to get the system to fit within the narrow fuselage. Lots and lots of components were tried and modified/ customised and finally some flight testing to get the 3 axis flight stabilisation system tuned. (as this is a very custom heli there was no real base program in which to start with) Mission success and the aircraft is +/- 14 degree capable with full 3D flight characteristics although you would hardly use it for tic tocs but it is quite capable of loops, rolls flips etc
build cost has been somewhere between 4-5K and I believe this is the only one in Australia running X50 mechanics and is certainly the only one I have seen running full 4 blade main and tail systems with so much high end componetry
Quick run down on the specs are as follows.... Enjoy
Some specifications as follows although there is a lot more custom made stuff in addition
Driveline:
Os50 hyper engine
Align high performance pipe (anodized black)
Quick uk Clutch
Shaft drive drop box for tail, twin belt tail drive
Main Rotor system:
X50 main shaft coupled to modified Trex600 metal swash, Align metal swash followers with modified 700 linkage arms, 4 blade scale head modified with all align thrust bearings, custom machined centre hat, custom matched set of carbon fibre main blades. Main rotor system 1,900RPM
Tail Rotor system:
Quick Uk raptor metal tail case, quick uk tail shaft, custom swash plate, 4 blade tail holder machined with align bearings, carbon fibre tail blades. Trex linkage and flex cable shaft for servo
Mechanics:
Thunder tiger X50 Carbon fibre frame
Power system:
4500mah 2 cell li-po, turnigy platinum hard case
Scott grey reactor x dual voltage power regulator
Electronics:
Align 3GX with V 3.0 firmware
governor – align 3gx
Prolux automatic ignition glow driver
Spektrum DSM2 Satellite’s (2)
Servos:
Align DS610 metal gear digitals on cyclic (3)
JR DS821 digital on throttle
Futaba narrow band high speed digital on tail

Great build there! I'm not too 'learned' on RC choppers but this thing looks hot.
One of the cooler looking ships to model it off too

Re: Bell UH-1Y Super Huey... in miniature
basically complete ready to fly (as it sits) 3K which is about 1.5K+ under what it owes me (plus post if you can't pick it up from eastern victoria)
only selling to do more flying 1/1 scale
can demo and setup your radio if you have a JR or can arrange to purchase and program one for you at additional cost if required. satellites are compatible with Spektrum DSM2 gear but can be changed
if anyones serious PM your number

you have no idea how many hours I spent on all the linkage getting that head to work like I wanted, lots of hours on the lathe
