change in the rules NZCAA/CASA

you may not have to convert your lic soon - see headline from syd. morning herald last fridays

Australian and New Zealand will formally accept each other's aviation safety standards in an agreement struck by both governments on Friday.

The governments committed to a mutual recognition of aviation certificates at the APEC transportation ministers meeting in Adelaide.

Under the agreement, airline operators will no longer be required to gain operator certificates in both countries, but operate solely on the certificate issued by their home safety authority.

Australian Transport Minister Mark Vaile and NZ counterpart Annette King ratified the mutual recognition, effective immediately.

"The arrangement will reduce the cost of establishing such operations by removing the need to duplicate effort, resourcing and certification processes," the ministers said in a joint statement.

"However, airlines will not be able to 'shop around' for the regulator that suits them commercially ... the aviation authority that provides safety oversight is the one where the majority of the airline's flight operations occur.

"Importantly, the arrangement maintains New Zealand and Australia's high standards of aviation safety.

"Mutual recognition is possible because the regulation of airline safety in both countries is of a high standard and comparable with international best practice."

AOC v's Lic

Postby CYHeli » Tue Apr 3 2007, 07:00

Does this just refer to AOC's or does it also included licences?
What are the good and bad of Australia moving more in line with ICAO in egards to training subjects?
For example 10 hours instrument (NVFR), ridge and pinnacle?
