Holy Sh!t, the stingers not much use at that attitude and speed.

Amazingly strong. Compare that to the AS350 when the wire flicked into the main rotor (tail boom shook itself off).
Back in August 81, a RAAF B model Huey had a tail rotor problem which led to the gearbox tearing itself out, a mast bump and rotor separation, and a drop from 1500'. Not quite the same as ploughing a paddock, but the forces must have been similar. And it stayed on, and it kept flying. Those Russkies!

I don't want to split hairs, but this appears to be a Mil Mi-2, which was actually produced in Poland. And, Poland wasn't part of the Soviet Union, so it's not technically speaking a 'Russian' helicopter.
