Helideck Inspector & Friction Tester

The Flight Safety Group is a privately held business, with a company specialising in offshore helideck inspections and friction tests, for a range of established and well-respected Oil & Gas Industry clients. Based in Australia, the Flight Safety Group delivers the highest level of service and quality outcomes to a broad range of Oil & Gas clients globally and across Australia and the Asia Pacific Region. With continued business growth and development of specialty services, we now seek to appoint an experienced Helideck Inspector/Friction Tester who is able to provide offshore & strategic support in a highly regulated environment. Onshore aviation auditing is also an integral part of this sub-contracted employment profile.



Job Overview

You will undertake regulatory helideck inspections and friction testing offshore. You will be responsible for the facilitation of a continuous improvement environment directing organisational resources towards satisfying internal and external stakeholder requirements. Holding at least 5 years relevant experience, you will need a thorough understanding of compliance requirements, attention to detail and a demonstrated commitment to promoting the importance of quality & safety and collaboration within the team. You will be part of a busy and dynamic team that responds to the needs of our clients whilst continuing to develop systems, policies and procedures that enable the Flight Safety Group to grow into the future. Working in this highly specialised and active business you will need to be a hands-on problem solver able to adapt to the changing needs of the business, clients and industry. This will be a sub-contracted role.



Essential Experience & Skills

Minimum 5 years relevant experience in an aviation role
A comprehensive knowledge of aviation Quality & Safety standards and Offshore guidelines
Knowledge of the latest edition of CAP 437
Knowledge of applicable regulations for onshore helipads and offshore helidecks
An understanding of the application of human factors and human performance issues
Operational management awareness and a sound understanding of safety management principles, typically acquired through formal training and practical experience
Proficient with the use of Email, Word and Excel
Ability to write formal reports
Capability with prioritising tasks
A continuous improvement mindset
Good communication skills, both verbal and written
Ability to evaluate issues that may affect planned activities and quickly negotiate and implement recovery actions to keep the plan on track
Strong problem-solving skills
Ability to travel offshore and successfully undertake tasks in sometimes challenging environments


Preferred Skills

Offshore experience
External Auditor qualification (Inspection and auditing requirement)
Cert IV in TAE (preferred)
HIAT and multiple helideck courses provided
Friction Tester Training provided


Duties & Responsibilities

Technical

Carries out regular and scheduled offshore helideck inspections and friction tests to ensure strict compliance with relevant company and industry standards
Aviation audits as required
Produces written reports that detail the findings of the inspection/friction test and any recommended corrective actions
Contributes to company compliance manuals
Ensures that processes are in place to identify potential breaches in compliance
Provides support, advice and guidance on compliance matters to team/department or client
Keeps up to date with changes in relevant industry standards and statutory regulations


Quality & Safety

Participates in system reviews and quality & safety audits, assisting staff in identifying potential improvements to systems, processes and workflows
Guides organisations through the deployment of quality & safety systems and certification processes
Assists and encourages the development of objectives, strategies and plans aimed at achieving client satisfaction and the efficient use of an organisation's resources
Assists in the identification of formal standards and regulatory codes appropriate to the organisation's needs
Assists with the documentation of processes and operating procedures
Liaises with suppliers within manufacturing environments to assist them in supplying goods to particular specifications
Liaises with clients to monitor perceptions regarding the organisation's quality, safety and timeliness
Assists in the implementation of statistical methodologies and quality tools to monitor and control quality & safety
Provides input into reports on the effectiveness and suitability of the management system
Advises on and may deliver training relating to Offshore Meteorological Weather Interpretation Training
Technical Data Management as required
