Aircraft that crash landed didn't even have a airworthiness certificate , and they had BARS accreditation that's even more scary

So they fly that tooey from the village crash site to Wewak on splayed out skids (?) no tail boom inspection (?) and on what, one stove because the other one had turned itself into a boat anchor? The outfit that owns the AOC that they are operating on must be so impressed with the professionalism displayed by Island Hoppers

It's always a risk to repeat hearsay. Not sure if this is personal or not, but appears you really want to sink the boot into this operator. I am sure there are reasons to be offended by this operator or by individuals within it, but none of the above statements is true except that they do indeed have BARS accreditation and the aircraft was flown with skids within Bell Helicopter limits to a place where maintenance can be performed.

After a few tragedies in PNG, this is a good news story where 14 POB walked away without injury following OEI anding.

Why shouldn't people want to sink the boot into this 'operator'?
Why does everyone else have to comply with PNG CASA legislation, audits, certificates, maintenance procedures etc.
These jokers turn up in PNG and treat it like it's the wild west and they can do anything they feel like. Other operators in PNG are not stupid, everybody keeps a pretty close ear to the ground there. Camera's and eyewitness accounts - just because you are working in remote locations doesn't mean word, proof, whatever doesn't filter out.

So presumably the helicopter had an engine failure and made a forced landing. Well done. Did the pilot fix or change the faulty engine himself before flying the TWIN engined helicopter back to Wewak or does it fall under the same emergency category that allows this same operator to fly [presumably] the same 212 from Manus Island to Madang over 200nm of water with the #2 hydraulic system unserviceable?
"meh - one stove still works, we'll just hop over to Wewak".
I could care less about sinking the boot into this operator - he is doing a super job of that on his own. What I care about is that it paints the rest of the legitimate PNG helicopter in a bad light. Far out, I heard one of the passengers was the Prime Minister!

Don't think it was flowen to Wewak on one engine.........but not through lack of trying going by the marks on the ground a day or so after the "whatever happened"
