Re: Skills...
Skills...? Average at best I reckon. I've seen a lot more precise/smooth/safe longline pilots.
The comments I read pretty much sum it up.

Average at best! Would need more precision (and better PDM) for class d in north America.

I wonder if the cameraman hung around to film to accident...
I'm no sling expert, but low - neg G with something on the hook seems a rather silly choice

My lifting experience is in the vicinity of 10hrs so I'm far from an expert, but did anyone else's @rse pucker at around 5:35 - 5:45 due the proximity of the line and tail rotor?

Skids,
Yes, that's exactly what I was thinking.
Otherwise just some guy having a fun day out. Nothing special. (Except I'd like a B3...).

So much was cringeworthy.... Agree with Skiddy and also had a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach when old mate started doing turns around the nose on the blokes up on the platform....

So many OH&S errors as well. I don't think having personnel on a raised platform consisting of a pallet on an extended boom and telehandler forks would make the grade in Australia and though I'm not up to speed with longline regulations I don't think having a human on a long line would be up to spec either, may be they got dispensation for the show though overall it's not a good look.

The dope on rope part was maybe the most legit part. A little shaky perhaps but try longlining with maybe 200lbs in a B3 and see how close to the floor the collective is. Its a long way to lean over if your tall.
As they are in the French Alps they are likely certified for ClassD/HETs whatever you want to call it.

The French love cameras pointing at them! He lost most of his water from the bucket before dumping.
