Ivor Durham

Postby hand in pants » Thu Feb 4 2016, 03:14

Another year has passed since the death of Ivor and Sam. Still think of them both all the time. Still got Ivor's number in my phone.

You were a wonderful teacher, boss, leader and friend.

Other bosses give orders, you gave us direction. Other bosses give targets, you gave us a vision. Other bosses lead by authority, you have always led us by respect. You groomed us to be sound professionals, a humble person that honour individual’s differences, a gentleman, and which made working with you a memorable experience.

Success and failure are a part and parcel of everyday work life’s highs and lows, but the memories of working with an inspirational boss like you will never go. You were always … more of a friend, less of a colleague, more of a leader, less of a boss. Farewell.

Still got his number in my phone, will always have it in case he wants to catch up.
Always good fun to be around. Always a good operator.

The industry is a lesser place without him.

What a wonderful tribute! If only there were more 'bosses' like this.

Yes lovely tributes, I was fortunate to be 1500' closer to Ivor and Sam today and ironically my crewie was Davo who survived the accident. We took a moment to remember them on such a beautiful day. Always remembered never forgotten.....

Eight years ago today. Life has gone on but I still miss dropping in to the heliport to catch up with a good friend.

I did a bit with Ivor quite few years ago now, and left his establishment knowing it was money very well spent with the training and knowledge he passed on. A humble, very experienced pilot and true gentleman of the industry.

Sadly, both Ivor and Terry (Hand in pants) are no longer with us. Both gents had a substantial impact on a great many individuals.
