LongRanger exhaust stub configuration

Postby JetRangerJunkie » Mon Oct 15 2012, 07:43

Hi Bladeslappers,
I am scanning my Bell 206 helicopter pictures for a forthcoming book and have a question regarding the Allison 250 exhaust stubs vs one-piece unit as fitted to later 206Ls.
Early machines like VH-SWL (45045) and VH-LIN (45124) had typical 206B stubs.
Someone will probably shoot me down in flames on this, I should have it buried amongst the brothel of data I have amassed,but I'm interested to know which production aircraft had the first one-piece rectangular exhaust, (45???) , or was it incorporated on a new model release eg. 206L I or II ..??
Cheers

Greg,

The one piece came with the model change and use of the different engine: the 206L had the C20, but the 206L2 had the C28 and the 206L3 the C30 both with single (rectangular) exhaust cans.

LIN was my toy, plenty of interesting photos in my collection if you're short :wink:

B206L = C20B or in some cases C20R retrofit. Same stacks as a 206B.

B206L1 = C28 Square Stack - Known commercially as a LongRanger 2

B206L1/C30 = Above retrofitted with C30

B206L3 = C30 and changes to seating, fuel system and other minor stuff. LongRanger 3

B206L4 = C30 and bigger MGB capacity. LongRanger 4

Heli,
well do I remember hearing the news bulletin. Relief to hear all survived. S'pose Bob was a bit miffed..
Wouldn't mind a higher res version of the pic you uploaded. Can send my home e-mail address 'off forum' if that suits.
Still can't upload any of my pics..all too big it seems.
Was LIN parted put or just junked.?
