Fire contract day rates of pay
The fire contract daily pay rate thread on here is from 2012. Anyone have any idea what the latest 2019 pay rates are for Bell medium pilots? Thanks.

Judging by the industry, probably not far from the 2012 rates.
Not being a dick but they are whatever you can negotiate.
There’s no specific pay rate.
Don’t know about twins but singles on CWN
5-600 per day 150-200 per hour.

Re: Fire contract day rates of pay
There really isn’t much of a difference in pay flying a twin or a single on fires. In some instances a Uh1H or 205 pilot can have a higher daily rate and hourly rate than a 212 pilot. Pay rates are more geared towards light, medium, heavy.
Some medium pilots out earn the heavy pilots so there’s no one size fits all solution it’s more how a company is geared and how much infrastructure they’re paying for.
Then you also have to offset the pay rates against which company has more solid contracts so to speak and how many months/days they can guarantee you.

My understanding is that it also depends which state you are working in (please correct me if I’m wrong). A mate working in Vic recently mentioned that there was no hourly rate, just a higher daily rate. I’d be interested to know if this is the norm or merely a particular company.

As mentioned by HP above and when I was in that side of the game it’s really what you can negotiate with the particular company depending on what your experience level and equipment your flying, also the term of your tenure ie Ad Hoc or long term 2-3 month (seasonal) rate.

I think some operators believe its a privilege for you to be flying their machines hence the s#!t pay.....for some.
There may in the not too distant future be a shortage of medium drivers.
