How to use google maps on my android without wifi? I have an htc desire hd and although it comes with locations, I would like to use google maps but without the use of data. Can I just download the map of my location with google maps or is it constantly in need of wifi? Thanks.

Re: google maps
In short no. You can get another app that will cache part of a area but it will never have the map fully loaded on your phone with google maps.

Re: google maps
If you just need a small area (small is not definied and is limited by your storage) you can use software like oziexplorer (there is a android version in the market) and get the maps from "mobile atlas creator". Its a simple to use program. You can choose between several type of maps and detaillevel!
Before you try, whole australia is not possible. You would need a lot GB of storage (depends on the detaillevel)!
