Do you have your visa and are you living in Australia now?
Which part of Australia do you plan to settle in if you are not here already? As I’m sure you now it’s a big country and there’s not too many touring options at the moment.
The fire season will be here shortly and there is always a bit of work around. However things start around August.
Microflite in Melbourne were looking for a pilot with multi engine training approval recently.
Good luck

Hi Mag ,
Thanks for the reply , appreciate the information!
I am open on settling anywhere the work requires me to be and I am not fussy at all with the type of work I will do.I am really interested in getting into the aviation market in Australia.
You are right , the country is massive!
Thanks so much for the heads up, I will try my luck at mailing Microflite.
Appreciate the feedback
Kind regards

Hi Havic ,
Not yet but in the process with all the paper work as we speak and hoping that if I can get an opportunity to get a job that the process could be expedited. I’m sure if there was something on offer I could present it and get the visa quicker.

I doubt you will get any offer without a visa in hand unfortunately

You will also need to convert your instructor rating , instrument rating and any ratings to your CASA licence to use them.

Don't want to be a party pooper merely to temper your expectations to avoid disappointment. I had an internal transfer, Bristow UK to Bristow Aus and it made no difference to the visa process. The process takes as long as it does and the immigration people will tell you as much.
As an immigrant who recently achieved citizenship I can honestly tell you it is worth it, work hard to fit in here and the people are warm and welcoming. Bring your experience and value that experience but be prepared to do it our way and you will make many friends.

Hi fill wings , thanks you , I am aware I need to write the PRC and instrument exam before I am awarded the ratings on my casa license , hopefully early next year I will be back to write and finish those.
@bigglesbutler , thank you for the advice I really appreciate all the feedback . I am looking forward to the challenge and eventually getting over to Aus.
The country and its people are really great.
My dream would be to work for a company like Bristol one day, you have an amazing job congrats !
Kind regards

I wouldn't go rushing to work for Bristow mate, they made us all redundant. From 143 pilots 3-4 years ago to about 20 now. We shall see what happens next but not sure when the oil industry here will recover.
Fly safe and good luck

If you're considering going offshore get a fixed wing licence and go to the airlines. much more stable and with actual long term prospects. With your quals you have more chance in EMS/SAR though you may need to prove yourself in Aus first, not a bad thing at all, learn the conditions and the industry here. Make contacts, build up your network and learn to deal with the "CASA " way.

@bigglesbutler that is an incredibly scary fact and thought ! I know the oil and gas industry had pilot cuts but had no idea it was that severe. lets see what the future holds then..
@evil twin - I have given going to the airlines a thought but at this point I have invested my whole life in helicopters , unless there was some sort of cadet programme for Heli pilots to covert I would never be able to afford the conversion unfortunately... I do however look forward to the challenge of proving myself and making connections to get into the industry in the future , it won’t be easy but I believe it will be well worth it!
Thanks for all the advice guys really appreciate the feedback.

What subclass?
Check myimmitracker for actual updated processing times by applicants, the DHA site 75/90% numbers are off. If your GSM class visa appl is decision ready, it could be 3-4 months to direct grant. If they ask for police check or medical for any person in the appl, that's automatically extra month as they let the 4 weeks period to check again by CO.
As mentioned, job offer means nothing unless it's requirements of specific subclass or obviously company/org sponsored. I assume your wife is primary.
Ya, don't mention transition to airlines for heli jocks, topic. Unless going to US of A. Then don't need sizeable out of pocket expenses especially at your experience level.
The heavier Bells flight time may be of interest to McDermott, but that won't be very family friendly.

Hey Chico ,
Affirm my wife is the primary applicant as she is a teacher. Thanks for the great information, we will definitely check the progress on that site.
If all goes as planned we really hoping to get the call across by January but that’s if all luck is on our side and all is in order...

Re: SACAA ATPL(H)/CASA CPL (H) seeking employment
No worries. When DHa site said 7-9 or 9-13 months 75 or 90%, it was 87-93 days wait if direct grant, decent appls. Year and half ago, that was.
If all DoCS in row, easy. If you plan to upstick January, should be done deal by then for sure. It isn't like the citizenship applications mess past two years.
Good to hear she's teacher. Super easy jobs wise here. Health and community jobs. Makes you lot more mobile for heli gigs. Even going North for year or two.
Supply teachers/temping fetch plenty more wonga and no ties until you're sorted with work.
I do see why you look up stuff ahead not to move about wasting time and money. You shall find temporary whole unit/house rentals helpful. Just don't hold your breath as this isn't IT or medical, job hunting from offshore.
