Medical with Glasses

Postby agpilot7 » Wed May 25 2016, 22:40

Just a heads up if you use glasses, when you do your next medical you have to take "TWO" pairs of glasses with you, and do your eye test with both pair.
hope this saves someone a second trip to the DAME. Fortunately I had a spare set in the car

Hi agpilot7, was that because you need to carry a spare pair due to very poor eyesight or is that for any prescription? Is this not a tad excessive?

You sure your DAME knows what he is talking about?
It is certainly a requirement to carry a spare set, but I have never been asked to produce them at a medical.
I have been wearing glasses for flying for over 10 years, and several different doctors in that time.
Where is the rule requiring you to bring both?

This is a requirement with the new online medical system.
When you attend your DAME and you wear glasses there are three sections he/she must fill in the first uncorrected then you do your eye test with your glasses and then you are required to do a third eye test with your spare set of glasses. "CASA don't trust you to have a second pair"
