co-pilot IR Rating

Postby Headset » Wed Mar 18 2009, 23:14

Anyone done one and can shed some light on what's required? Or explain this.... CAO 40.2.10.4.3(a) requires that all initial issue Co-Pilot IR applicants undergo a course of instrument flight training; but the minimum experience requirements are not specified...

Do you do a flight test?

Thanks in advance.

As SPA said, all you're required to do is demonstrate proficiency on instruments. There's no formal training required - as long as when you sit the test you can fly the aircraft to the appropriate standard.

I would suggest you contact Kestrel aviation college in Victoria or Rotorlift out of Tasmania for further information. Both organizations conduct IFR training and will be able to help you out with requirements for training and a test.
