Hello all,
I am an Australian pilot but for the last few years I’ve been flying overseas on fires etc.
I have been asked to prepare our guys and aircraft should the need arise for us to be sent to Australia temporarily to assist with fire relief. I have fire experience in Australia but It’s been a while and rules, procedures have changed.
I have been unable to find definitive answers to a couple of questions, maybe you can help.
1. Would experienced, foreign licensed, fire pilots require any further, Aussie fire-specific certification before being cleared to fly on fires in Aus? I am Assuming if it were to happen we would be assigned to operate under the AOC of an established operator.
2. Is there a temporary ASIC or ASIC exemption for this type of operation?
Thank you.
