Seriously RC, You sure?

Taught me a few things I did not think possible in a helicopter. Terrible loss in that case.

Such a tragedy....Rest In Peace

Sounds like some catastrophic failure, leading to impact? :(

No, just a training manoeuvre gone wrong.

Stratford,

Would you care to enlighten us ?

Everyone here flies helicopters...and the whole idea of BS is to share information, so as to assist each other.

Cheers,

Started out as a practice hydraulics, where it went wrong, I don’t know.

350 hydraulic failure (I've had one) is no fun but manageable, especially by high time experienced Pilots. Jack-stall or servo-transparency is also easy to manage which only occurs at high power setting in high G maneuvers. Approaching a landing the lever would be going down, no high G's so no chance of jack-stall. Something else went profoundly wrong, some catastrophic failure leading to a lose of control. A training maneuver gone wrong is out of the question for RC.

Rest in Peace Roger & condolences to the Family

Who told you that?
rotors99 Sounds like some catastrophic failure, leading to impact?
How would you know that without inspecting the wreckage and having the background and training that the ATSB Investigators have?
mdav Taught me a few things I did not think possible in a helicopter.
Oh, that comment should raise some eyebrows at ATSB and CASA.

Were any of you in the cockpit with them, listening in on the radio, standing beside the runway?

If the answer is "No", then wait until the ATSB Final Report is published. Even then, we may never get to the truth of what really happened, or the sequence of events, as Roger Corbin is not here to speak for himself or tell his side of things, is he?

Anything else is rumour-mongering, unhelpful, second-guessing, and hurtful for the survivors, family, and friends. Could always expect the bladeslapper heroes and sympathisers to be the first to jump in and comment on this tragedy.

Keep your opinions to yourselves.

Damned unprofessional!

Terrible outcome regardless of the cause - some slappers knew him, some slappers didn't. Some slappers have inside info, some slappers don't. Some slappers are speculating, some slappers aren't.

Flyhuey - If speculation & informed or uninformed comments on a website forum upset you I'd suggest you disconnect your internet. Did you really expect that the "bladeslapper sympathisers & heroes" to be the last to jump in & comment?
As they say, if you want to start a fight just put your opinion on an internet forum & wait for a few seconds.

Sorry, damned unprofessional of me but Flyhuey & I couldn't help but express our opinion.

All respect and condolences to RC, his family and friends.
Unfortunately, I never had the chance to meet the gentleman.
In saying that, I have many friends, colleges and employers prior and current who spent many good times with him.
They have always praised and will continue to praise RC as a friend and a skilled pilot.
Out of respect for a fellow pilot, can we please hold off with any speculation.
Perhaps start a new post to share useful and experienced intell to help our industry and avoid any further pain for all involved and amongst our small tight community.
Your family would feel the same if it was you who has passed.
GF
Respect and flammed out.
There is always an option.
