B412 endorsement required

Postby helicopspeeder » Mon Jul 2 2018, 04:43

Can anyone tell me where I can get a B412 endorsement please? I’m trying to find out if I can do the initial endorsement on my CASA license at Bell in Texas or in Dubai (yes I’ve sent emails). I recently did factory training at Agusta and CASA won’t recognise it as a flight review so I can’t imagine them recognising a new endorsement.
Thanks in advance.

Yes you can get it done overseas. I did my 412 rating at flight safety in Dallas in December however, you need to be sure to get all of the paperwork correct as clarc are a tad pedantic about it. FS also did an IPC but as it hadn't been notified prior to CASA it wasn't recognised  . I had to go back and forth to FS a couple of times to get extra paperwork. Not sure about the flight review though, might be worth a phone call or two.

Cheers

Thanks ET. Do you remember how much it cost and how long it took?

Toll and LifeFlight (probs others too) can probably do them in Oz as well. Would be in an actual machine though so not sure how that would stack up in $. Might be worth considering.

Might be worth checking if CA$A still considers the 212 and 412 to be the same endorsement - I was able to slide across from the 212 to the 412 with just a checkride and a quiz on the newer systems.

Maybe there are more 212 operators who can thus help you out?

Good point Eric, yes they do, is the answer as my licence states both. Just thought that Kestrel may be another possible for in country rating. That would be in the aircraft too.

Thanks for the suggestions. EH, was the quiz and checkride to switch from 212 to 412 a company requirement or CASA requirement?
Cheers.

The CASA type rating is issued as BH212/412 or maybe the other way around without checking my license.

That being said, it’s very unwise to jump right into a 412 if you’ve only ever flown a 212 without some differences training. Same goes for the BK117/EC145.

Bonus of doing a 412 rating at kestrel is you will have the opportunity to fly various models of 412’s as well as 212’s if you so desire.

Differences Type Training is a CASA requirement , and can be conducted by a Type Rated Instructor.

It had been 8 years since I flew a 212, so it was pretty much a company requirement. CA$A wasn't quite so intrusive 11 years ago.
