H/EC145 C type rating required

Postby Kiowa » Sun Mar 25 2018, 07:44

Hi all,
Can any one assist me with information as to who in Australia can to do a H/EC145 C type rating. I am working and living in SE Asia.
To assist my employer and move into the role the most efficient way possible. I think the best way is to get the rating on my home country license CASA. Then convert it to the country of employment licence.
I am already rated on the H135, and have that type on my CASA license, so the transition will be the ground school and the required flying hours for my third M/E aircraft.
The Alternative is a factory course, that is mostly SIM time, then go through the process to get it on CASA licence then validation from the relevant CAA, country of employment. Been there done that, it takes a bit of time.

If any one knows of any H145 C operators in Australia, please reply here or PM me.. Ive been out of the loop there fore a while.

Cheers

I don't believe that there are any H145 operating in Australia at present. The rescue guys on sunshine coast are now operating EC145 - try them maybe?

You could also try Dave Adamson from his website below it appears he does 145 ratings.
https://specialisthelicopters.com.au/flight-training/

Otherwise probably shout yourself a trip to Airbus. :)

Thanks for the information.
As expected True North don't do type ratings at this stage. Dave Adamson's, type rating is a BK117++ Not EC145 C or C2. yeah yeah, same same but different...
So, Next question. If I go to NZ... North Shore Helicopters has one. And can I do the type rating... do I need a CASA to NZ validation... ? I guess ground school theory is not an issue.. What about the flying component..?

Thanks

There only 3 EC145 sim centres, Germany, Dallas TX and Helsinki in Finland. And no slots available until Mid Year.

LifeFlight can do a BK117 type rating then conduct the differences training on the EC145.

Isn't it your employers responsibility to give you/arrange the endorsement for you?
If they have an operational/commercial requirement for you to fly the 145, then they should organise the training for you.

Surely if they have a 145 on their AOC, then the CP will be endorsed on the machine. Get him/her to give you the training or go to the same place they did their training.
Unless you are the CP of course.

Going to NZ to then convert to AUS to then convert to SE Asia doesn't make any sense to me. Surely a factory course would be cheaper and better in the long run.

Good luck.

No, it doesn’t work like that here. Type ratings in Asia must be factory courses. However, I have a CASA license to convert to local validation once I have the H145 on it. Yes factory is an option.
Of course I won’t be going down the NZ path if I have to do the CASA to NZ validation. But it worth looking at if I don’t need to validate.

Are you wanting a EC145(C2) rating or a H145T2(BK117D2)
They are very different.

Not sure about other country’s but if you are looking at NZ you need to do a CAA approved ground course under a 141 certificate.
I don’t think there is currently an approved ground course for either in Machine in NZ at present.
There are numerous EC145 sims around but only 3 H145, 2 in Germany Airbus and ADAC and Finland.

I’m already on the standby list. All sim centres can do H145 T2 (feneston) H145 C and C2 conventional tail rotor.
So I know what i am asking for here.
My first post was clear.. I think ..!

Pacific Helicopters in PNG operate 3 H145's.
The licence validation is quite straightforward. Contact them in Goroka, and ask if an endorsement is possible.
They will be a bit busy with the earthquake relief work at the moment though.

Because there are no Australian part 141 of 142 operators who can do an EC145 type rating (which you are slowly finding out). They don't have the course written.

The only thing available in Australia (which is the country you asked about) is the differences training from a BK type rating.

Gone are the days where an instructor with 50 hours on type could do your endorsement. Now bloody impossible to get it done anywhere in this country. Good old "at no cost to the industry". Wankers.

Wait until you try being a new type into the country!
I’ve been watching this over the last couple of years. The guys trying to do it ended up sending the cASA delegate off on a factory course!

That is the case in SE Asia. Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Cambodia etc. Usually the delegate requests all expenses for Business Class travel, 5 star accommodation, transfers, meals etc etc etc.
He will request the company pay him cash, travels on a budget carrier, stays in a low cost hotel and pockets the rest and wants the type rating at the companies expense as well.
Thats why it betters for me to do the type rating on my home country licence first, then transfer it across to the other countries license.

Yep, not just SE Asia, sounds very familiar to NZ CAA.
