This year has been fairly sucky due to not flying.

Except a friend was taking a BO105 from
Melbourne to Newcastle and i was stoked to get asked to go with him.
Never being in a twin before was awesome.
Except I now will watch what I eat the night before a flight.
Or I’ll end up filling up my water bottle with something other than water. Oc:=

2022 will be better. Working through covid gave me cash to spend. Soooo I think I’ll spend it

I have been fortunate to be fully employed for the whole of the COVID time and flying as well.
My employer has been very supportive of myself and all other employees during this difficult time and I remain very grateful.
Good fortune to all for the coming year and I hope Australia has no further outbreaks and things get back to normal as soon as possible.\
To all slappers continued good health to you and your family, friends and loved ones.

Hoping you still have a sweet calendar left Ned?
2021 has been a mixed bag, shi$$y personally but incredibly fortunate professionally.
I lost my dad but then was transitioned into a HAA/SAR role that he would have been so proud over. I really wish he could still be around because of the little kid he became whenever talking about whichever machine I was flying.
I'm excited travel is opening up and that Aus is finally re-joining the rest of the world.
Looking forward to a better 2022 for everyone.
Fly safe!

G’day Ned. Would love one. I’ll pm you my address.
I’ve retired now due to terminal cancer. The industry has been so good to me. Loved every minute of it.
Doctors are saying that I’ll go another year, maybe a bit longer. Had a great life, would do it all again exactly as it happened, without the bowel cancer.

If I can say anything, gentlemen, get tested for it. I had symptoms and like most blokes, made every excuse for them. Wife finally made me see a doctor. He stuck his finger in my bum, had a feel about and said “I can’t sugar coat this, it’ll be cancer”. Really crazy thing is while I was waiting to see him my wife rang with the news she had just been told she has breast cancer. Red letter day in the McGowan household.
Anyway, the calendar would be great in my office.

And thank you to everyone in the helicopter and the GA fixed wing industry, it’s you that made it fun, interesting, challenging, tough, and an adventure and it has been a pleasure playing with you all.

So sorry to hear that Terry, both for you and your wife. Thoughts are with you both.

Have put a couple of calendars in the mail for you. Youre a tough old poppet so I expect to be sending you calendars for a few more years yet - farq what the doctors say.

Look after yourself my friend and thanks for everything you have done for the industry over the decades and all the advice and support you have passed on to everyone along the way.

As a contract fire pilot who works in Canada during the Australian winter, you can imagine the s#!t time I’ve had since early 2020! El Niño & Covid = No fires & no travel = No work. I have a few strings to my bow so I’ve been very busy in the mining industry & making good coin, but I had to sell up my homestead & relocate due to border closures, very disruptive. There’s light at the end of the tunnel, time to get off my backside, shed some lockdown kilos & make the most of opportunities.

Pretty hard to complain about my minor tribulations after reading HIP’s post. I hate it when bad things happen to good people, good luck brother & I hope your days are as peaceful as they can be.✊
